Celebrating Five Years with Toni!
What’s been the most memorable moment from your first five years with Stafforce?
Hands down, it has to be one of my first times at the Nicholas Associates Group Annual Conference and Awards. We had a talent competition, and it was such a laugh. The highlight was definitely when a couple of our male directors dressed up as Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers and performed “Islands in the Stream.” It was such a brilliant moment and made me realise I’d found the perfect company for me – these are definitely my kind of people! Haha!
How has working with Stafforce shaped your career so far?
I first joined Stafforce in 2017, initially just looking for a temp Credit Control role. But they saw something in me and suggested I give recruitment a go, which is where it all started. I had Alison Cook as my branch manager and Christina Poulton as my role model – they really guided me in those early months. Recruitment is definitely a love-or-hate job, and while I loved it, I had an even bigger love for travelling the world at the time. So, after a year, I left and travelled for almost two years! I came back in 2020, and since then, I’ve gone from Recruitment Consultant to Senior Consultant, and now Managing Consultant. I’m excited to see what the next five years have in store!
If you could choose one item to represent your workday, what would it be?
Definitely a rollercoaster! Recruitment is full of surprises – you never quite know what’s around the corner. You can be up one minute, down the next, and back up again. Every day is an adventure!
What motivates you to come to work every day?
I’ve got two big motivators. First, I’m all about chasing success – there’s nothing like the buzz of landing a new opportunity, building relationships with clients, placing my first candidate with them, and then growing that business into something long-term and loyal. Second, it’s my team. I’ve been lucky enough to work with some fantastic people over the years, and I really believe having the right team around you is key to a successful business. It’s been awesome watching my current team grow and develop.
What advice would you give to someone just starting their career in recruitment?
Your reputation is everything – protect it and build it from day one. Take every opportunity to learn, soak up as much industry and market knowledge as you can, and, most importantly, listen to and learn from your more experienced colleagues. And don’t be afraid to stand out – make your mark in the market!
